Walking from the front porch through the entry way into the spacious foyer, you will feel comfortable and at home with the warm tones of the red oak floors and softly tinted walls. Ahead is an arched entryway to the Great Room. To the right, a two-flight staircase with a soaring 14 ‘ ceiling leads to French doors opening into the lower level living spaces. To the left, a convenient coat closet also provides storage for the home’s media connections.

From the foyer, walk through a wide arched opening into a delightful great room with a 14’ vaulted ceiling. Light spills into the room through 9’ double pane arched windows. A stunning view of the Blue Ridge Mountains and the town of Waynesville lies ahead. Lounge on the wide cushioned bay window seat while enjoying the scenery. As a bonus, these seats have additional storage built beneath them.
Note the repetitive architectural detail of gentle arches used in this great room and throughout the home.
The centerpiece of the Great Room is a stone and wood accented fireplace. The mantel was inspired by a photo in Country Living Magazine and custom designed and built by a local craftsman. The fireplace is flanked by built in cabinets reaching to the ceiling with lots of convenient storage for books, games, and more. The cabinet on the left is specifically designed to house a television and the home’s central audio system. Custom built drawers are designed to hold items such as DVDs and CDs. Remote speakers are located in the Dining Room, Laundry Room, and on the Screened Porch so you can enjoy music while entertaining or relaxing.
With entertaining in mind the architect designed an open-layout for the Great Room and Kitchen area to be able to entertain upwards of 30 guests.

Entering via the staircase, French doors will bring you into the family room. Floors throughout the lower living area are covered with Berber carpet. At the center of this spacious room is an additional gas fireplace with custom mantel. The opposite wall has been decorated with vintage doors placed horizontally for a wainscoting effect. It is an appealing idea that continues the cottage feel of this home even into the lower level.
There is also a convenience center with custom cabinetry, a small refrigerator, and a sink. With its abundant space, this room is highly versatile and can be easily adapted for other purposes such as a game or media room.
Sliding doors allow access to the lower level deck and driveway.
Dimensions Laundry Room: 8’ 8” x 9’ 8”
Located between the dining room and the garage is a spacious laundry room. Filled with natural light from the corner window and the two large windows in the hallway, this room is outfitted with custom cabinetry. A rod above the washer and dryer provides space for hanging clothes as they are removed from the dryer. A convenient pullout ironing board is concealed within a drawer beside the washing machine.
A sewing machine shelf is concealed in the cabinet beside the desk. By pulling out the shelf and locking it into place, a sewing center materializes at counter height. Drawers and cabinets provide ample storage for sewing supplies and fabric.
A large sink and space for an upright freezer or an additional refrigerator complete this highly functional room.

The main entrance to the upper level study boasts 7’ tall vintage doors. These unique doors from the late 1800’s were rescued and restored by the owners. The glass panes were inspired by the style of glass seen in the original Haywood County Courthouse.
As with other rooms in the home, there is plenty of natural light from the double windows overlooking the landscaped front yard.
A walk in closet has been modified to contain office electronics such as printers, scanners or a fax machine. There is room for a filing cabinet and built in shelves provide storage for office supplies.
With access to the master bathroom, this room could easily be converted into an additional bedroom or guestroom.

The perfect space for any DIY person is this large workshop on the lower level. Large double doors, which lead to the lower driveway, allow for easy transportation of tools, equipment, and projects.
For clean up, a heavy-duty work sink is available. The floor is finished in Armstrong commercial vinyl tile.
Exiting the laundry room to the right is an exterior door leading to the spacious two-car garage. The left garage opening is full sized. The right side is extended to accommodate larger vehicles. Both over-sized garage doors have automatic openers.
Natural light filters in through additional windows on either side. Between the parking spaces, a small wooden work-table can be folded up when not in use. There is hanging storage for garden tools and ample wall outlets to accommodate the hookup of tools, etc.
There is attic access via a pull down staircase.
